Could we really achieve our goals?
I believe most people have made some kind of plans and set goals for this year. This could be anything from getting a better job, buying a new car, going on a vacation, learning a new language or skill, starting a business or even loose weight.
I also believe most people will not achieve their goals.
Believe it or not, the reason for this is mostly not external. We all like to blame external circumstances for most of our problems, but the truth is it is just a bad habit when we are reaching for this excuse whenever we wish to explain something to ourselves or others why something isn't working in our lives. When you blame something on these externals like bad luck, your parents, your boss,, the environment, your genes, your childhood or whatever, means you give control of your life to these outside factors.
The alternative to blame is self responsibility. Most of us has not been thought to taking responsibility for the happenings of our lives.
Instead of blame, we could choose to know that all of the events and people who have showed up in our lives have had a specific role. We could also choose to know that the things we do not understand or approve of are in our life to teach us something.
Forgetting this fault finding tendency is crucial to a self-reliant balanced, peaceful, happy life.
We are all talented creatures. WE are also very talented in depriving ourselves of a decent life.
What could we do to change this?
When you think that someone or something else is responsible for your circumstances, think of it as a lesson instead. A lesson to remind you that only you have the key to yourself. When you search within for your key, you will always find what you need.
Be thankful for these lessons. This will allow you to learn whatever is in this situation you need to learn.
Remember that blaming is futile. Ask your self what do I have to learn from this lesson? Why did this happen to me? Do not forget that everything that happens to you has something beneficial in it.
Trust your intuition or as I call it gut feeling. That feeling we all have before almost any decision making usually guides us in the right direction.
Keep a vision of what you want to occur to you, anything that is important to you. Over time you will notice that your life has become one in which you play a role as a co creator.
Practice being self-reliant. Accepting the fact that you are the driver of your life will open up a whole new world to you.
If your are capable of doing that your are ready to tackle more concrete issues like setting and achieving your goals.
Some smart people say that there are 12 steps to setting and achieving goals.
Based on my life experiences I'd have to agree with them.
- Awaken the desire. You need burning desire to overcome the fear and other difficulties that hold back most people.
- Believe deeply in what you want to achieve to activate you subconscious.
You need to set realistic goals of course. If the goals are realistic your mind will accept it.
- Write down your goals. If you do not write it down, then these are not goals just dreams.
By writing down concrete and realistic goals, we help firmly planting it our subconscious mind.
Did you know most people do not write down their goals because they simply do not belive in them?
- Make a list of the benefits achieving our goals would provide us with.
The more the benefit, the bigger the motivation.
- Analyze your starting situation. By defining the starting point you will be able to track and measure your progress. The more clearly you see the starting point and the finish line the bigger the chance for success.
- Define a specific target date. By doing this you have programmed it into your mind. Don't be afraid of missing your date. What is the worst thing that can happen? You need to set another date. No big deal. It just means you were not ready yet.
- Make a list of the obstacles that you might face. Where there are potentially good opportunities, there are obstacles. With the list of obstacles in hand you could develop a strategy to overcome them.
- Find out what knowledge and information do you need to achieve our goals.
In today's information society people with more and better information are the ones who are succeeding. Having good information is absolutely essential.
- Make a list of the people who could help you, support you, cooperate with you.
This means everyone from family, friends and colleagues. You will have to have a good number of supporting people to succeed. The power of network marketing- if you learn to use it- is in the supporting network. Remember, your up line is there to help. It is their interest to do so.
- Make a detailed plan. By using the information in the first 9 points, you should have everything in your hand for a good plan. It is easier to build a house with a good plan;an, and the same is true for goals or business or just about anything you do.
- Visualize. You will need to see yourself clearly in the situation of achieving your goals. If you are able to see it in your mind you have a good chance in achieving it. If anything has helped me in my life is visualization and commitment.
- Never give up. You need to commit 100% to your goals. You've got to promise yourself to stay committed to you plan no matter what.
If you do not give up, you will succeed eventually.
Will this be the year when you will finally commit to be the driver of your life?
Remember, you are in control of you own life an destiny.
